5 rules for living in a retirement community when you are young

For the past several years my wife and I have had the privilege of living in a community that is made up of a large percentage of retirees. Not being of retirement age ourselves we have learned a number of things from this experience which I will now pass on to you.

1) Don’t complain about how “dead” and “unhip” the area is if you chose to live there.

2) Cars go slower in a retirement community. Its a law of nature and you getting frustrated isn’t going to change it.

3) Stores close early, but look on the bright side, they open early too.

4) Older people startle easily. Say “excuse me” when passing from behind while on your daily jog through town.

5) Treat older people as people, not as aliens from a really lame planet where everyone gets up at 4am.

Have a rule you feel should be added to this list? Let me know.
